Pregnancy & Birth Equipment

Over my 35 years’ experience as a midwife I have learnt which pieces of pregnancy and birthing equipment are really useful. Here are some of the recommended products that I use and love.

Equipment Lending Library

All of the equipment above can be loaned to any midwifery client free of charge with an agreed time for you to keep them.

These should be returned promptly and in clean working condition, otherwise, I will regretfully need to charge full replacement costs.

Books & DVDs

Available to loan free of charge for anyone participating in a workshop, course or service, the constantly-expanding My Calm Birth library has books and DVDs on the different methods of birth, parenting, breastfeeding, baby development and more.

The Positive Birth Movement

The Positive Birth Movement is all about:

  • Support
  • Information
  • Choice

We are a global network of free to attend antenatal groups, linked up by social media. We connect pregnant women together to share stories, expertise and positivity about childbirth. We aim to challenge the epidemic of negativity and fear that surrounds modern birth, and help change birth for the better.

Join us as we meet up, link up and shake up birth!

What is a Positive Birth Group?

Unlike traditional ‘antenatal classes’, in Positive Birth Movement groups, women listen to each other, rather than to a teacher.

Every month we have a different ‘theme’ for discussion, such as ‘Place of Birth’, ‘Birth Plans’, or ‘Hopes and Fears’.

Groups usually start with some introductions from the Facilitator, but after that, it’s over to the group to talk and share and learn from each other. There always plenty of tea and cake, too!

Read more about what happens at a Positive Birth Group on the PBM website.

Meetups

  • Last Sunday of every month, 10am – 12pm
  • Meet other parents and parents to be
  • Have your questions answered
  • Free to attend, everyone welcome
  • People from surrounding areas welcome
